Walk the RiverWalk Wednesdays kick off May 7

DETROIT – The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and BCBSM are teaming up in the "Live the Riverfront" initiative to promote wellness among those who live and work in downtown Detroit.

This no-cost initiative begins Wednesday, May 7 east of GM plaza, where participants are encouraged to walk the riverfront during their lunch hour.

Pedometers will be given to participants who register this Wednesday, in order to track their progress.

Progress is recorded through an online portal and after every third check in, participants will receive free health-and fitness-related gifts that include T-shirts, drawstring bags, and water bottles.

The summer walking initiative will run for 16 weeks and is open to all who wish to participate.

The program concludes on Aug. 20, and some participants will be eligible for a drawing of Detroit RiverFront Conservancy prizes.
