DETROIT - The woman credited with honing the style and stage presence of many of Motown's music legends will be laid to rest Friday.
The memorial for Maxine Powell will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit.
Her funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at Swanson Funeral Home.
Powell ran a finishing school for up and coming Motown artists within the Motown record company.
The Maxine Powell Finishing School turned out stars like Mary Wilson, the original member of the Supremes, Martha Reeves, Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson.
She taught young artists how to confidentially enter a room and how to represent themselves in a polished manner in public.
Powell died Monday at the age of 98.
