DETROIT - Michigan State Police Troopers are investigating a car crash that left one person dead.

The accident happened around 12:30 Thursday morning on westbound I-96 near Southfield.

According to witnesses, a vehicle was driving the wrong way on the freeway when it collided with another car and burst into flames.

The driver traveling the wrong way was transported to Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit. The other driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

The accident is still under investigation at this time, but troopers believe alcohol was a factor.
