Feds assess flood damage in metro Detroit

DETROIT – A team of state and federal inspectors are touring metro Detroit to assess damage from flooding earlier this month.

They are working to determine if federal disaster assistance is needed.

The team of Michigan State Police, state Homeland Security, FEMA and the Small Business Administration will not visit all affected areas.

They will combine what they see with other damage assessment information to see if Gov. Rick Snyder can request a federal disaster declaration for southeast Michigan.
