GM features first reveal of 2014 Auto Show in Detroit

GMC reveals new 2015 Canyon

DETROIT – The North American International Auto Show kicks off Monday morning, but today General Motors got a jumpstart on the competition with a special unveiling of the 2015 Canyon truck.

GMC believes it can get customers to return to a market that is one-sixth of the size it used to be with this new midsize truck. The Canyon, which features the bold styling that GMC is known for, offers potential truck-buyers several new upgrades, including more comfort, quiet and affordability, and the segment's best horsepower, payload and towing capacity.

The Canyon is the final piece of a truck line that GMC calls the freshest its ever had.

"I think we're offering a lot of choice to the consumer, and they can look and say what is the right truck for them, what is the right fuel economy, the right performance," said Mary Barra, GM CEO. "When you look behind me, and look at the complete truck portfolio, it's centered on the customer."

Barra, a woman who grew up in Detroit, made history with her appearance at the Auto Show reveal, becoming the first female CEO of a major car company.
