LAPEER, Mich. - The Lapeer Community Schools district has canceled classes for the remainder of the year due to potential threats.
The superintendent posted a letter to the district's website which cites potential threats of violence against students and "rumors connected to the Mayan calendar predicted end of the world on Friday."

School is canceled for both Thursday and Friday, including all extracurricular events.
Classes will resume Monday, Jan. 7.
