Milder Tuesday on tap

Rain and snow expected later this week

DETROIT – A little thin cloud cover is keeping temperatures from dropping as low as they did Monday.

So, a more mild start today with lows near 20 degrees as the clouds slowly exit SE Michigan and Southern Ontario. There was a bit of very light snow across the tip of The Thumb moving out with the clouds. Afternoon highs will get into the low 40s feeling very nice with mostly sunshine and calm winds SSE 5-10 mph.

We are watching a storm moving in our direction early Wednesday. Expect mid to late morning rain on Wednesday as mild temps will range between low to mid 30s for lows and upper 40s to near 50 degrees for afternoon highs. We will see light to moderate rain and isolated thunder through the lunch hour and then a break in the action late afternoon through the evening. Winds will begin to pick up SW 10-20 mph gusting closer to 25 or 30 mph at times.

There is a chance for some light snow early Thursday morning on the cooler back side of that storm system. But, nothing more than a dusting is likely which will melt very quickly.

We are only 3" of new snow from making it the snowiest season ever in Detroit. We have a chance for a couple of inches late Friday and more chances next week.
