DETROIT – The NAIAS Charity Preview proved to be the most glamorous night of the year for Detroit.
Attendees of the black tie gala included veterans of the auto industry and of the city's social scene.

"We do not even work in the auto industry, but we come because it's such an awesome night for Detroit," said Mary Golota, who attended with her husband, Jeff Golota. "More people should come. It's for anyone. It's more vibrant down here than ever. It really feels like the city and auto industry are coming back strong."
Even though ticket prices went up $50 this year, to $350 a piece, sales far surpassed last year.
This year 13,761 tickets sold, compared to 13,069 last year. That means the gala raised almost $1 million more than last year. The grand total this year is $4.8 million, which will go to nine different children's charities.
The event offered free champagne and wine, as well as a first look at the hottest cars hitting the world stage.
Sheryl Crow also performed for the crowd immediately following the charity preview.
The night proves to be a big economic boost for the city of Detroit. After-parties were held at many different venues throughout the city and nearly every restaurant was fully booked. Most limo services were also used to capacity.
