Proposed water rate changes for people who rely on the Detroit Water and Sewage Department are great news for some and not-so-great news for others. It all depends upon where you live.
Some communities could see a 14% increase in what they pay for water service - while other communities may see over a 16% decrease in water rates.
The communities which could see the biggest drop in rates include:
Harrison Township: Down 16.27%
Huron Township: Down 12.90%
Lincoln Park: Down 13.16%
Northville: Down 13.95%
Oakland County Drain Commission: Down 19.35%
The communities which could see the biggest increase in rates include:
Clinton Township: Up 12.82%
Rockwood: Up 14.17%
Romeo: Up 14%
Wixom: Up 11.3%
If the proposed rates are approved at a Detroit Board of Water Commission meeting on February 26, the rates would go into effect July 1.
