MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Macomb County Sheriff's Department said charges are likely against a 27-year-old Macomb Township man whose son was thrown from a dirt bike they were riding.
In a statement, the department said witnesses reported seeing the father and son riding Sunday afternoon on the west side of Garfield Road near Hall Road, between the sidewalk and roadway.
After a couple of jumps on hills, witnesses said the boy fell off the bike and was possibly ran over by the bike.
The Sheriff's Department said the boy had a helmet on, but it came off when he fell.
He was initially taken to McLaren Hospital in Mt. Clemens, but was subsequently transferred to Children's Hospital in Detroit for further treatment.
His condition wasn't immediately released.
