Macomb County to sweep for outstanding child-support offenders

Macomb County is asking for help getting so-called "deadbeat" parents to pay up on child support.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham and the Macomb County Friend of the Court have announced a week-long bench warrant sweep in an effort to arrest individuals with outstanding warrants for non-payment of child support.

The sweep will begin Monday, May 12, and give those with outstanding bench warrants the chance to appear in court to avoid arrest. Additionally, any individuals who appear will be afforded the opportunity to have their circumstances reviewed to determine if they qualify for a special program that can help substantially reduce state-owed arrearages.

The public who has information on the whereabouts of an individual with an outstanding Friend of the Court warrant can call 586-469-5756 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
