Madison Heights police officer to have surgery for brain tumors

DETROIT – A Madison Heights police officer will have surgery later this month to have two tumors removed from the center of his brain. The procedure is scheduled for Sept. 30.

The officer can't fly immediately after the surgery, so his family will travel to California with him. Local police have started a fundraiser to help the family deal with costs of flights, hotel room rentals, medical expenses and missed work.
