Main concern for 2013 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix is avoiding track trouble

DETROIT – This year, organizers of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix are hoping for a smooth ride along the track after last year's bump in the road on national TV.

Chunks of asphalt and rubber came undone on the 2.1-mile track that was riddled with potholes.

Race officials hit the brakes on lap 45 and it took hours to repair the track, which was too long for some fans to stay parked in their seats.

When the race resumed, it was shortened from 90 laps to 60.

Race officials on Tuesday will host the media for an event to unveil the 2013 official race poster and more details on the race.
