In October, a man who identified himself as the roofing company's owner took $4,000 and told the church the roof was fixed, police said.

It later turned out no work had been done on the church's roof.

Police had identified the alleged thief as 28-year-old Joseph Christopher Delmaro, who is also accused of committing a similar crime at a church in another city in 2009.

After seeing his picture in the media, Delmaro turned himself in.

He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
