NOVI, Mich. -

Peter Gerard Jones was arraigned Monday for the murder of 84-year-old Bernice Schaufele.

Det. Randy Mince, of the Novi Police Department, said during a search of the suspects home they found a dish towel with fresh blood, jewelry and a make-up bag. Police say they also found foot impressions which were a match to the shoes that Jones was wearing.

According to the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office, Schaufele had been stabbed in the neck.

Jones was on parole for manslaughter which was reduced from 1st degree murder. In 1998, he committed murder in Florida and in 1991 Jones was convicted for unarmed robbery in Wayne County.

He is now being held without bond.
