Troy police: Man arrested after failing driver's test, assaulting Secretary of State employee

TROY, Mich. – A 22-year-old man was arrested Friday at a Secretary of State office in Troy after he failed his driver's test twice and became so upset that he assaulted an employee, police said.

After failing the written portion of the test, he was given a second chance at it, but he was caught using a cellphone and failed again, police said.

The man threw the test and a pencil at an employee. It hit her in the chest, police said. He also jumped over the counter trying to retrieve his ID and made threats using profanity, police said.

He was arrested and is charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

Police said one officer was hurt trying to arrest the man.
