GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. – Investigators have one person in custody as they investigate the strangulation death of a Grosse Pointe Park woman.
Sabrina Gianino, 35, was found dead last Thursday morning in the home she shared with her boyfriend on Wayburn Street. Her boyfriend called 911 just after midnight to report finding her body. He has since been questioned and released.
Local 4 has learned that the person being held by police is a relative of the people who lives next door -- and he's been held since Saturday.
Neighbors said they saw several police cars pulled up Sunday to search the house next door. Police had a search warrant and focused on the upper flat of the home.
"They were detectives there with their latex gloves and their cameras and they were taking pictures of the inside and outside premises," said neighbor Bob Toole.
Dale Williams, 22, lives in the home and he told Local 4 his uncle was the one taken into custody. Williams says his uncle use to work for Rizzo Waste and Recycling and moved here from Louisiana.
Family members of Gianino say some of her belongings were missing from her house, including a laptop. Her family also says some of the missing items have been recovered.
Police haven't confirmed that the search was linked to the murder investigation, but Williams said police have taken some of his uncle's clothes.
Sabrina Gianino worked as a receptionist at the Platz Animal Hospital. A fundraiser will be held for her family Tuesday at Marge's Bar on Mack Avenue.
Donation are also being accepted at the animal hospital where she worked.
