Man charged in 30-mile police chase from Novi to Ypsilanti

NOVI, Mich. – A 37-year-old Ypsilanti man is charged in connection to a Monday morning police chase which started in Novi and ended 30 miles later at a home in Ypsilanti.

Novi police say Robert Batt was stopped on Interstate 96 after an officer spotted him speeding at 87 miles per hour. Upon speaking with Blatt, the officer suspected he was driving drunk. She asked him to step out of the vehicle but he fled, police said.

Blatt is charged with operating while under the influence, fleeing and eluding police and driving on a suspended license.
