Man charged in attempted rape in Ann Arbor

Louis Flanders accused of following victim, choking her in apartment complex parking lot

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A 22-year-old man has been charged in an attack on a woman in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Ann Arbor.

Louis Flanders is facing charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, assault by strangulation and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Police said he allegedly got off a bus June 16 with a woman near Washtenaw and Huron Parkway and followed her to the parking lot.

When the woman tried to tell the man to back off, he "forced her to the ground while choking her. The victim fought with the man as he attempted to grope her," police said.

After the incident, police released a pictures of Flanders in hopes of having the public identify him. He was arrested Thursday.
