Man charged with carjacking at Clinton Township Wendy's

Diante Wilson accused of hiding in back seat, beating car owner on head

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A man who Clinton Township police said is accused of hiding in the back seat of a car and then beating the owner as he started to drive away has been charged.

Police said Diante Jajuan Wilson allegedly got into the car on April 4 while it was parked in a Wendy's on Garfield Road.

When the owner got back into the car and started driving away, Wilson allegedly started beating him on the head and demanded he get out, police said.

The owner complied, and Wilson took off in the car, police said. The victim was not seriously hurt.

Police said  a "be on the lookout" description was broadcast to area law enforcement and the stolen car was spotted  minutes later by a Macomb County Sheriff's deputy.

The deputy was able to pull the car over and arrest Wilson without incident.

Wilson, a Detroit resident, has been charged with carjacking.

His bond is set at $15,000.
