WESTLAND, Mich. – A man was hit by a car and killed Thursday on Merriman Road at Michigan Avenue in Westland, police said.
The man was hit around 6:15 a.m. Thursday and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The driver of the car was not injured in the incident.
Police said it's unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
The Westland Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
