Police: Arguing couple crash after running red light on Detroit's west side

Driver of second vehicle, woman both flee scene on foot

A man is in critical condition after a fight with his girlfriend led to an accident on the city’s west side, police said.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Detroit police said that a woman driving a Buick Rendezvous near Southfield and Plymouth in Detroit was arguing with her boyfriend when she ran a red light and hit another vehicle.

The woman’s 42-year-old boyfriend was ejected from the vehicle, police said, adding that the woman then fled the scene on foot.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle also fled on foot, although he was not at fault for the crash.

The 42-year-old man who was ejected from the Buick was taken to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition, police said.

Police are searching for both the driver of the second vehicle and the woman.
