Man enters plea in hit-and-run death of Detroit boy

Alfonso Butler, 47, turned himself in to police after deadly hit-and-run

DETROIT – The 47-year-old man charged in the hit-and-run death of an 8-year-old boy whose bike was dragged by an SUV in Detroit plead guilty Tuesday.

Alfonso Butler was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident causing death.

Darrin Wilhite of Detroit was struck September 23rd on the city's west side by a vehicle that kept going with him and the bike pinned underneath.

He was dislodged, but the driver drove off with part of the bike stuck to the vehicle's front end.

Butler turned himself in to authorities a day after the accident. He will be sentenced December 13th.
