Man fights, literally, to get his stolen car back in Roseville

Man watches his car being stolen while at work in Roseville

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A local man is trying to get his car back after it was stolen right before his eyes.

According to Gary Irvin, he was working at pizza shop in Roseville when his car was stolen.

"Went in started doing dishes and I saw the guy walk by," said Irvin.

Moments later the thief strikes, first prodding through the car seeing what he can take, then decides to steal the car.

"I thought someone was playing a joke on me at first," said Irvin.

The next day, Irvin and a friend were driving and spotted the thief driving his car.

"I had three heart attacks at once. It took me a minute to pull over. I pull over parked and ran after my car," said Irvin.

Irvin ran into traffic to try and chase down the thief and when he got to the car, he dove through the passenger side window.

"I was reaching in trying to get the gear to shift. He was already in reverse. He immediately hit the gas and cut the wheel," said Irvin.

After throwing a few punches, Irvin was hanging out of the car. He was then thrown out of the vehicle and onto Gratiot. Just in time, he got out of the way before being hit by an oncoming truck and once again the thief got away in his car. But this time the police are on his tracks.

Irvin is hoping someone will recognize the suspected thief from a surveillance video from his job.

"My mom is disabled. She depends on me to get to the doctor," said Irvin.

The car is described as a white Ford Crown Victoria.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
