Kidnapping victim found dead in van on Detroit's east side

Suspect arrested after brief barricaded standoff

DETROIT – A man who was kidnapped Wednesday night at a Detroit liquor store was found dead Thursday in a van on the city's northeast side.

Police said the man was kidnapped around 7 p.m. Wednesday at Vons liquor store on Greenfield Road. Police found out about the kidnapping Friday morning and started searching for the man.

Officers traced the kidnapping to a home in the 17000 block of Marx Street, where they found a man barricaded inside a house. After a few minutes, police brought the man safely out of the house and took him into custody.

The kidnapping victim's body was found in a van.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
