Man found guilty in murder of University of Michigan medical student

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – 21-year-old Dejeon Franklin has been found guilty on all counts in the murder of 25-year-old Paul DeWolf.

DeWolf was a medical student at the University of Michigan when he was killed. Franklin is convicted of shooting and killed DeWolf during a robbery in July last year.

A second suspect, Joei Jordan, is expected to stand trial in January, and a third man, Shaquille Jones, has already pleaded guilty in the case.

Jones was given a minimum sentence of 18 years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder, as well as two counts of first-degree home invasion and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree home invasion, according to The Ann Arbor News. Jones also agreed to testify regarding the events of that night in future trials.

DeWolf was a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and a member of the University's chapter of the Phi Rho Sigma medical fraternity, located on North Ingalls Street. He was killed in his home on July 24 when Franklin, Jordan and Jones broke in with the intention of stealing property and reselling it for profit.
