Man killed after being hit by car in Sterling Heights

The 28-year-old was crossing Mound Road when he was struck by the vehicle

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Friends and family are mourning the loss of a 28-year-old man who was killed after being hit by a car early Saturday morning.

Sterling Heights Police say just after 2 a.m. the Clinton Township resident was crossing Mound Road at Almore Road when he was struck by the vehicle. The man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old male from Sterling Heights, stopped his car at the scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

Northbound Mound Road was closed for several hours Saturday morning while police investigated.
