Man shot, killed at home on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – Detectives from the Detroit Police Department are investigating a deadly shooting on the city's west side.

Sources tell Local 4 a 43-year-old man is dead and police are questioning a 41-year-old in connection to the shooting Thursday morning. The victim has been identified as Bernard Watson.

Its alleged that the man went to his ex-girlfriend's house in the 15000 block of Ilene and forced his way inside the home. The woman's good friend was at the home at the time. 

The woman was able to convince her ex-boyfriend to leave, which he did, but he soon returned. The woman's friend was armed with a gun and shot the man. 

The woman's friend has been detained without incident and is being question. The gun has also been recovered.

Police are investigating whether this was a case of self-defense.
