Detroit police say a man was struck and killed by a hit and run driver in the northeast section of the city Friday evening.

A man walking near a gas station at Van Dyke and 8 Mile Road was hit by a car that drove off from the scene.

The car was traveling southbound on Van Dyke when it struck the pedestrian.
