Man linked to Detroit security guard's death faces sentencing

DETROIT – The third and final man linked to the shooting death of a security guard in Detroit is scheduled to be sentenced Monday.

Ronnie Alonzo Anderson-Williams pleaded guilty last month to carjacking, armed robbery and felony firearms. Prosecutors said he was with Jamare Rucker and Jeremy Jackson the night Courtney Meeks was killed in February during a confrontation in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy on Schaefer Highway.

The three were convicted of robbing a woman at gunpoint in the 17100 block of Harwell, but couldn't get the car to start.

Prosecutors said Anderson-Williams then left the group and went home, but Rucker and Jackson continued on to try and carjack another woman in the CVS parking lot. Meeks ran out to try to help the woman and was shot.

Prosecutors said Rucker and Jackson then fled to Anderson-Williams' home.

Rucker and Jackson were both convicted on murder charges and sentenced to at least 40 years in prison.

Meeks' mother, Camille, reverently spoke to Rucker and Jackson before their sentencing, saying she would pray for them and hoped they would be enlightened by God.
