A 30-year-old suburban Detroit man has pleaded no contest to allegations he was driving drunk in April when he crashed into a medical transport SUV, killing the driver and two kidney dialysis patients.
Jeremy Yancey of Macomb County's Chesterfield Township is now set to be sentenced Sept. 10 on charges of second-degree murder, operating under the influence causing death and reckless driving causing death.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office said police tried to stop Yancey's speeding van April 12. Officers ended the chase, but the van kept speeding until the crash in the Detroit enclave of Highland Park.
The three people in the SUV -- a 59-year-old woman, 61-year-old man and 57-year-old woman -- all died.
