Man shot in face helped by churchgoers on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – Members of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church on Detroit’s west side called 911 when they came across a man who had been shot in the face, police said.

Police said a 27-year-old man was driving a white SUV when a black Dodge Avenger pulled up to the driver's side of the SUV and began shooting.

The victim was shot in the face, but was able to drive to the front of the church.

A group of churchgoers saw the victim and called 911.

Police said there may have been three men inside the black Dodge at the time of the shooting.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
