Man suspected of breaking into 15-20 Metro Detroit homes

Troy police say 32-year-old Detroit man broke into, robbed multiple homes in Oakland, Macomb counties

TROY, Mich. – A Detroit man faces a home invasion charge after, police say, he broke into a home in Rochester Hills on March 26.

Troy police say 32-year-old D'Mario Darrell Thornton, who already was on parole for a home invasion charge in California, is suspected of breaking into 15-20 homes in Troy, Rochester Hills, West Bloomfield, Shelby Township and Rochester.

Troy police, Oakland County Sheriff's deputies and officers from the South Oakland Narcotic Investigation Consortium helped make the arrest. Upon executing search warrants on Thornton's vehicle and home in Sterling Heights, police say they found a very large quantity of suspected stolen property including TVs, electronics, jewelry, collectibles and money.

The stolen property was from homes in the communities listed above.

Thornton's preliminary exam date has not been set. He is at the Oakland County Jail where he is held on a $1 million bond.
