Man tries to use fake $100 bill at Troy restaurant, leaves without food

Hostess says man left, never returned

TROY, Mich. – Troy police said a man tried to use a fake $100 bill to buy food at Brio Restaurant Monday.

The man walked into the restaurant at 8:42 p.m. and requested a to-go order, police said. The bill was $13.25 and the man paid with a $100 bill, police said.

Employees said the man asked how long the order would take, and the hostess told him about 15 minutes. He said he would come back for it, but never did.

The hostess checked the $100 bill and discovered it was counterfeit.

Police are searching for a black man with short hair who is about 25 years old, 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 210 points.

The restaurant is at 2801 West Big Beaver Road.
