Douglas George Bowman has 7 previous convictions of drunk driving, police say

LAKE ORION, Mich. – A man with 31 open driver's license suspensions was arrested Friday night for allegedly driving drunk in Lake Orion.

An officer saw the truck leaving a McDonald's parking lot and driving onto northbound S. Broadway. The officer said the truck was being driven erratically and hit a curb near Atwater Street.

The officer stopped the truck and said the driver, who stated he didn't have a driver's license, showed noticeable signs of intoxication.

As Douglas George Bowman, 54, got out of the truck for a sobriety test, the officer noticed that Bowman had urinated in his pants.

Bowman failed the sobriety test and was arrested for operating while intoxicated, police said.

Bowman was taken to the Oakland County Jail after a search warrant for blood was obtained and executed.

Records show Bowman has seven previous convictions for drunk driving and has 31 open driver's license suspensions, police said. He also has had numerous previous convictions for driving on a suspended license, police said.

Bowman was charged with third offense operating while intoxicated and operating with a suspended or revoked license.

Bowman is being held on $25,000 bail and will be placed on an alcohol tether if he's able to pay bond.

He is expected back in court for a probable cause hearing on Sept. 27 at 10 a.m.
