REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man with Mace broke into a Redford Township home Sunday morning and pepper sprayed the homeowner before stealing her purse, police say.
The incident happened at a home near the corner of Denby Street and Santa Maria at around 6 a.m. Police say the man entered the house through an open window and fled after pepper spraying the woman and taking her purse.
Police used a K-9 unit and tracked to where the suspect is believed to have parked a vehicle.
The suspect is described as a black man wearing a red shirt.
Redford Township Police ask residents near the area to contact them if there is any surveillance video that may reach the street and sidewalk. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 313-387-2555.
