Man's body found in wooded area of Genoa Township

Police say man appears to have died from self-inflicted gunshot wound

GENOA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michigan State Police said late Thursday that the man whose body was found earlier in the day in a wooded area of Genoa Township died from a self-inflicted gunshot.

The man's body was found in the area of Schafer and Brady roads by hikers and their dogs.

Police said they haven't yet identified him, but he was white and about 30 years old.

An autopsy is planned to determine an exact cause of death.
