On Small Business Saturday, November 30th, Westland Mayor Bill Wild will visit various businesses and raffle off a variety of gift cards ranging from $10 to $50  from 8 a.m. to 12 noon to promote local shopping this holiday season.

This follows his annual State of the City address where he highlighted several business investments in Westland.

"Statistics show that for every $100 you spend locally, $66 stays in the local community," Wild said. "That means your dollars are helping to build parks, libraries and improve fire and police departments."

Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. First observed on November 27, 2010, it is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big box retail and e-commerce stores respectively. In contrast, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local.

Mayor Wild will give out gift cards at the following locations:

8 a.m. Biggby Coffee 37644 Ford Rd. Westland, MI
