McDonald's Announces Healthier Happy Meal Changes

Fruit Joins Fries In Every Meal On The Heels Of Health Initiative

OAK BROOK, ILL. – Following 19 other restaurant chains joining the Kids Live Well Initiative earlier this month, McDonald's has announced that it will independently make changes to its Happy Meals. The fast-food chain said today that fruit will no longer be a choice for Happy Meals, but will be automatically included.

The amount of french fries given will decrease along with the inclusion of fruit. McDonald's is shrinking its packaging to include fewer fries. Asking for more apples instead of fries will also be an option. The other step McDonald's is taking is to decrease sodium in its menu items.
