McDonald's to give away 1000 backpacks to Detroit students

The first day of school is just around corner, and there's no better way to prepare students than with a complete list of supplies.

That's just what McDonald's is doing here in Metro Detroit. Today, the fast food chain will give away 1,000 backpacks, complete with notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, and other supplies, to help children succeed this school year.

The promotion offers customers the chance to win a backpack by simply visiting one of 20 participating Detroit-area McDonald's restaurants during the sweepstakes period. You must be present to win. As many as 50 backpacks will be given away at each participating restaurant.

"Supporting youth and education remains a top priority for me and my fellow McDonald's restaurant owners," said Jon Campbell, McDonald's restaurant owner. "We are proud that our McDonald's Get BackPackin' to School giveaway will positively impact local families as they prepare to send their children back to school."

Parents and students can head over to their neighborhood McDonald's for their ‘Get BackPackin' event to receive one of the bags.
