MDOT hosts final public meeting Thursday on I-96 reconstruction project

I-96 to shut down for repair work in Wayne County

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation will host its final public meeting Thursday about the I-96 reconstruction project in Wayne County.

MDOT officials said it will be an open house-style meeting to provide details and detour alternatives for the complete closure of I-96 for reconstruction between Newburgh and Telegraph roads in Redford and Livonia.

The 7-mile-long project includes closing I-96 for reconstruction and improving 37 overpasses. MDOT officials said the closure is scheduled to begin sometime this spring and is expected to be completed in November.

Engineering consultants, MDOT staff, residents and interested stakeholders are expected to attend the meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Lee Thurston High School at 26255 Schoolcraft Road in Redford Township.
