Medical marijuana grow operation explodes in west Michigan

1 man seriously injured, dog killed

MANLIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A medical marijuana grow operation exploded Thursday morning and seriously injured one man in west Michigan's Allegan County, WOODTV is reporting.

The explosion happened about 9 a.m. in the 3300 block of 60th Street west of Hamilton in Manlius Township and caused a small fire, but it was quickly contained, according to WOODTV's report.

Michigan State Police said the operation appears to be legal. The explosion was caused by propane, police said.

The man who was hurt suffered serious injuries, but nothing life-threatening, state police said. He was in a nearby unit unrelated to the grow operation. However, his dog was killed by the explosion.
