It's a cold and snowy start to the new year but by the looks of traffic, the conditions weren't keeping some people indoors Wednesday night.
Those out braving the slick roads did not want to start 2014 with cabin fever.
Coffee was brewing Wednesday night over at the City Coffeehouse in Allen Park with the sounds of live music in the background. It was open mic night.
The music always attracts a nice crowd and Wednesday was no different.
"I'm at the coffee shop because my friend plays in a band," said Amanda Daugherty of Taylor. "It's a good time and good music. I like the coffee too."
Some friends walked a mile in the snow for dinner and a movie.
"I was pretty bundled up. She was cold. I had to give up my jacket," said Cody Householder of Romulus. "I got one glove on."
Householder said he had to do a lot of sweet talking to get his friend out in this weather.
"She don't like going out in the cold. She was hungry," said Householder. "I was like, 'I got us some coney island. Let's go out.'"
