Michigan family wants injured teen home from Yemen

Jayzon Mosed shot during ambush in capital city

SOUTHGATE, Mich. – Jessica McMillan at home in Southgate is worried sick about her young cousin a world away in Yemen.

Jayzon Mosed, 13, is hospitalized in a coma in the capital city of Sana'a after being shot in the head.

The teen was spending the summer in Yemen with his father and was supposed to come back to Michigan this week, but he was shot during an ambush.

"Thirteen armed men surrounded the car and started shooting," McMillan said.

Mosed's uncle was killed. The rest of his family has trying to get the teen flown out of Yemen to a better hospital in Dubai, then back to the U.S., but they said they've been told medical flights are not allowed to fly out of the country, which is dealing with civil unrest.

"Get him home, yes. That's what we need. We need somebody to be able to get in there and get him out," McMillan said.

The family is calling on local congressional representatives to try to help them get Mosed moved.

"We just want him home," McMillan said.
