Clark dismissed from Michigan football team

Michigan football player arrested on domestic violence charges

ERIE COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan head coach Brady Hoke announced Monday that Frank Clark, who was arrested over the weekend on domestic violence charges in Ohio, has been dismissed from the football team.

"Frank Clark has been dismissed for violating team rules from the Michigan football program," Hoke said Monday. "This is a tragic situation."

Police say the domestic violence incident happened in an Erie hotel, where a situation between Clark and his girlfriend allegedly turned violent. The senior was arrested late Saturday night at the Maui Sands Resort, an indoor waterpark facility in Sandusky, Ohio.

Reports surfaced that Clark's girlfriend told police the lineman punched her in the face. The girlfriend's brother also alleged to police that Clark threw his girlfriend down by her neck. Clark told police that he did not hurt the woman.

This isn't the first off-field issue to hit Michigan football this season. The program garnered national scrutiny with the handling of backup quarterback Shane Morris in the team's game against Minnesota, when Morris continued to play despite nursing an obvious injury after an illegal hit. It was later released that Morris suffered a concussion.

Then, when the Wolverines traveled to Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, linebacker Joe Bolden stuck a tent spike into the field after the team ran out of the tunnel.

Now, one of Michigan's star defensive players is facing very serious domestic violence allegations.

Clark has battled with the legal system before, pleading guilty to a felony second-degree home invasion charge in 2012 for stealing a laptop.
