Michigan State Police investigate report of highway shooting in Detroit

Semi-truck suffered damage, nobody hurt

Detroit, Mich. – Investigators with the Michigan State Police Metro Post are investigating a possible freeway shooting that happened around 3 a.m. Friday.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a semi-truck was northbound on M39 near 8 Mile Road in the City of Detroit. The driver of the semi-truck observed a green in color minivan travelling next to him and indicated he observed an arm extend from the driver side window with a gun firing at least one time. The semi-truck then drove to Sterling Heights before reporting the incident.  A preliminary inspection was conducted and there appears to be damage to the front of the semi.  Northbound M-39 was closed and an attempt to locate any shell casing was made.  There were not any shell casing recovered from the scene. The freeway was re-opened at approximately 5:50 am.  The semi-truck has been transported to the Michigan State Police Sterling Heights lab to have it processed for evidence.
