Michigan State University student found along I-69 later dies at hospital

19-year-old man found Saturday night lying along I-69 in Bath Township, just north of East Lansing

BATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 19-year-old Michigan State University student died Saturday night after being found along Interstate 69 in Bath Township, which is just north of East Lansing.

A driver called 911 about 10:23 p.m. to report a man lying in the travel portion of the interstate at the East Lansing exit. Officers found the man partially clothed and lying in the roadway.

The man was in "respiratory distress," police say, and a passing motorist, who happened to be a nurse, performed first aid before police and EMS arrived. He was taken to Sparrow Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He has been identified as Dustyn Louis Frolka, originally from Owosso, Mich. and currently enrolled at Michigan State.

Police are investigating his death as a homicide.
