FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Farmington Hills police have arrested a 16-year-old and 17-year-old in connection with an early-morning carjacking at a Dunkin' Donuts on Thursday.
Just before 4 a.m., a woman was allegedly approached by the teens while she was parked at the Dunkin' Donuts on Grand River Avenue and 8 Mile Road.
Farmington Hills Police Chief Chuck Nebus said the two forced the woman to drive to a location in Livonia and tried to force her into another car, but she was able to escape and flag down help.
The suspects then allegedly took off in her car with her cell phone and purse.
Police said they tracked her car using GPS and arrested the two suspects at 10 a.m. in Detroit near the Lodge Freeway and Six Mile Road.
"The intent remains somewhat of a mystery. We know it was a robbery at minimum," said Farmington Hills Police Chief Chuck Nebus.
The manager of the Dunkin' Donuts told Local 4 their security cameras did not capture the crime. But a neighboring business spotted a Ford Escape lurking near the Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru at the same time the carjacking took place.
