BAD AXE, Mich. - Authorities in Michigan's rural Thumb region say the bodies of two 23-year-old women and an 11-month-old girl were found in a burning apartment.
Bad Axe police Chief David Rothe says his officers were called to an apartment about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday and saw smoke and flames pouring out. The city of 3,500 is about 100 miles north of Detroit.
Rothe says firefighters entered the apartment, put out the fire and found the three bodies.
He identifies the dead women as Audrey L. Hogan and Melissa M. Perkins and the girl as Abrecona Perkins and says autopsies are planned Saturday.
Rothe says a state police fire marshal's investigator and Huron County prosecutors and sheriff's deputies are involved in the probe.
The chief didn't releasing information on the cause of the fire.
