Woman finds boy wandering in Waterford at 8 a.m.

WATERFORD, Mich. – Police say a women called to report she found a 3-year-old boy walking alone near the intersection of Dixie Highway and Telegraph Road around 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The boy was found wearing only a t-shirt and underwear.

Police say the 35-year-old woman from Bloomfield Hills put the child in her vehicle to keep him warm until police arrived

The woman also pointed out to officers a person in the parking lot of the Waterford Motel who was visibly upset.

Police say the upset person was the child's mother.

The 24-year-old woman told police she left her child alone in a motel room while she took her husband to work because he was sleeping.

The mother told police she was gone a total of 20 minutes.

The child was not injured and the boy was turned over to the mother.

This incident remains under investigation by both Waterford Police and Child Protective Services.
